Nine - how many words can you find?

Nine is a simple word puzzle game. The objective is to find as many words as possible using four or more of the nine letters supplied. The one constraint is that the words must all contain the letter displayed in the middle. Complete with over 200,000 words in its dictionary, Nine will keep your mind working for many, many hours.

Playing Nine

Everything that Nine can do is provided in the one screen. On launching, simply select the New button to create a new puzzle. Tap on the individual letters to select words.

Use the Add button to add them to the word list. If you cannot select the Add button, then make sure you have entered a word with at least four letters, including the centre letter. Nine letter words will appear in red in the list.

As you add words, the count will increment automatically.

If you mistype, you can use the Clear button to clear the word and retype it. If you add an incorrect word, you can select it from the list and use the Remove button to clear it completely.

If you're stumped, use the Solve button to find out the words you couldn't identify. The words will be listed along with yours in the list, coloured to differentiate them - purple for nine-letter words and blue for the others. Word counts for the total list are shown on the right.

Note: The words for the solution list are derived from free word lists and contain a mix of common words as well as specialist technical and scientific words, for this reason no 'score' as such is provided.

Creating your own puzzles

You can enter your own puzzles by selecting the Create button. This will clear the nine letter display. Tap each button in turn to add letters.

When all nine have been entered use the Play button to start. If you wish to abandon the process tap on the Cancel button.
